Job summary

Stony Brook University Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant I/II for the SICU on the Day Shift. Under RN supervision, you will provide compassionate patient care, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, document care, and support visitors and families.

Qualified candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and preferred NYS CNA certification and a HS diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• One year of satisfactory full-time patient care experience preferred.
• Preferred NYS CNA license or CNA training program certification.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Change simple dressings as directed.
• Apply hot/cold therapy as directed.
• Chart and document care and/or behaviors as required.
• Take temperatures, pulse, blood pressure and respiration rate.
• Assist with daily living activities and personal care.
• Feed individuals needing assistance to ensure proper nourishment.
• Bathe and dress, brush teeth, and trim nails as needed.
• Maintain patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform housekeeping tasks related to direct care as needed.
