Job summary

University of Maryland Capital Region Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to deliver comprehensive sickle cell care with a multidisciplinary team in Prince George's County. The role emphasizes health equity, education, and leadership development.

You'll work across outpatient and inpatient settings, collaborating with hematologists, nurses, social workers, and pharmacists to improve patient outcomes while practicing at the top of your license.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Active Maryland RN and APRN license (or eligible).
  • BLS and ACLS certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Graduate of an ARC‑PA accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • NCCPA Certification.
  • Active Maryland PA license (or eligible).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care for individuals living with sickle cell disease.
  • Evaluate and manage patients presenting in sickle cell crisis.
  • Perform emergency department and inpatient consultations.
  • Round on hospitalized patients receiving sickle cell care.
  • Manage chronic disease and preventive health maintenance.
  • Coordinate chronic transfusion management.
  • Provide evidence-based chronic pain management and opioid stewardship.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing.
  • Prescribe medications and manage refills.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary care and community resources.
  • Collaborate with physicians and specialty teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and quality standards while practicing at the top of your license.

What You'll Do

Qualifications
Nurse Practitioners

Credentialing through the UM Capital Region Health Medical Staff Office is required.

Salary is commensurate with clinical experience.
