Job summary

UM Upper Chesapeake Health (UMUCH), part of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has a full-time opening for a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Bel Air, MD.

The APP will treat hospital-based patients in the IMC, with occasional ICU coverage, as part of a dedicated critical care team. Acute care certification and Maryland licensure are required, with on-site physician support for procedures.

Qualifications

• Master of Science degree with completion of an approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program.
• National certification in the area specialty and licensed by the Maryland Board of Nursing (NP) or equivalent for PA.
• NPI number, DEA and CDS required.
• Credentialing through the Maryland Board and UMMS health system.

Responsibilities

• Manage and treat hospital-based patients, predominantly in the IMC and occasionally in the ICU.
• Be a member of the critical care team focusing on high-acuity IMC patients.
• Handle various procedural skills with on-site physician backup (central lines, intubations).
• Maintain high standards of patient care and safety in a fast-paced environment.

UM Upper Chesapeake Health (UMUCH), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has a full-time employed position available for a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their practice located in Bel Air, MD.

APP Job Specifics

• The APP will manage and treat hospital-based patients, predominantly in the IMC but will occasionally cover in the ICU.


• The APP will be a member of the critical care team whose predominant focus would be IMC level patients with high medical complexity. Provider should be comfortable caring for higher acuity patients.


• While procedure skills are not a must have to apply, the expectation is that this person will be trained and eventually expected to handle various procedural skills including central lines and intubations with on-site physician back up support.


• Nurse Practitioners must be acute care certified.


• Provider experience, specifically in critical care, is highly preferred.

Work Experience
