Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, seeks a SI Lab Technician to join our Santa Clara, CA team. The role supports measurements and verification of device-under-test performance in the Signal Integrity Lab, ensuring products operate within specifications.

You will assist with frequency (S-Parameter) and time-domain (TDR, BERT) tests, capture data, generate graphs and reports, and collaborate with Sales, Manufacturing, and Engineering to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1–2 years of postsecondary education in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Strong geometric, numerical, and statistical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, PCB layouts, schematics, and block diagrams.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and perform measurements of a device under test to ensure operation within specifications.
  • Support frequency (S-Parameter) and time-domain (TDR, BERT) measurements for new products and Sustaining Engineering.
  • Assist with electrical measurements using an Oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, and Digital Microscope.
  • Help debug customer systems or cable assemblies in lab or field settings.
  • Record, store and process data in Excel to create graphs and reports with PowerPoint.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering as needed.
  • Maintain cautious handling of sensitive equipment with consistent, precise work.

Position: SI Lab Technician

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Signal Integrity Lab Technician to join our team. The position will be located in Santa Clara, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SI Lab Technician will assist and perform necessary measurements of a device under test to ensure products operate within specification.

  • Work in the Signal Integrity Laboratory for the Signal Integrity Application Manager to ensure Electrical specifications of manufactured passive DUTs are met
  • Assist with frequency (S-Parameter), and time domain (TDR, BERT) measurements for new product and Sustaining Engineering and Operations
  • Assist with obtaining Electrical Measurements with a Oscilloscope, Vector Network Analyzer, and Digital Microscope
  • Assist with debugging customer systems or cable assemblies both in the lab and on the field
  • Assist with performing repeatable measurements for experiments and characterizations
  • Assist with performing repeatable cycle or stress measurements using mechanical fixtures or obtain mechanical parameters
  • Accurately record, store, and process data in Excel to create graphs and reports with PowerPoint
  • Keep track of all work and experiments performed
  • Interact as needed with Sales, Manufacturing and Engineering teams
  • Display caution around highly sensitive equipment and performs work with consistency and precision
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum postsecondary education requirement of 1 to 2 years in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
  • Strong geometric, numerical, and statistical aptitude
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, PCB layouts and schematics, and block diagrams
    • Proficient in- Microsoft Products- Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong accuracy and organizational skills
  • Must be self-motivated
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Repeatable Process: Connecting and disconnecting threaded cable connectors by hand requiring the use of precision torque and or static wrenches
  • Largely Sedentary role: This position will use benchtop instruments and computers

The hourly ratefor this position ranges between $25.00/hr to $38.00 annually. In determining rate of pay, Amphenol considers a variety of nondiscriminatory factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant industry experience, qualifications, skills, and education. It would be rare for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a given role.
