Job summary

US Foods is seeking a Shuttle Driver to operate tractor trailers to and from remote dispatch sites in Chesapeake, VA. The role includes pre/post-trip inspections, maintaining safety, and may involve backhaul or delivery duties.

Qualifications

• Must hold CDL Class A issued by the state of residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.
• 6 months commercial driving experience required.
• Doubles endorsement preferred; at least 6 months with doubles endorsements is a plus.
• Must be able to read/communicate in English and understand highway signs and reports.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive tractor trailers to and from remote dispatch sites.
• May perform duties of backhaul or delivery driver as needed.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections and maintain vehicle safety.

Primary function of this position is to drive tractor trailers containing various products (meats, produce, frozen foods, dry goods, etc.) to and from remote dispatch sites.

Main Ingredients of the Job

• Safely drive trucks to and from remote dispatch sites

What You Bring To The Table

• Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
• 6 months commercial driving experience required
• Doubles endorsement required AND minimum 6 months driving with doubles endorsements preferred
• Must be comfortable working overnight
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors applicable by law (for example: state minimum wage thresholds). The expected base rate for this role is between $25- 30 on a component pay structure.
