Job Description:

This position will provide transportation of a nonemergency patient and up to one (1) care giver or family member to and/or from The University of Toledo Medical Center (UTMC) and clinics when the patient does not have non emergent transportation. Collects, prioritizes and organizes requests for transporting patients to assure an optimum timely response. Frequently circulates to the clinical areas to retrieve requests, and pertinent medical information for immediate transport. Assists ambulatory and ancillary departments to provide timeliness and efficiency in response to needs surrounding patient care.
This position exists to provide a transportation service to the community when all other resources (ride share, cab, uber, etc.) have been exhausted.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GED is required.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under The University of Toledo driver and insurance policy is required.
• Must have and maintain a clean FBI/BCI background check is required.
• CPR Certification must be completed and maintained within 30 days of hire.
• Must be reliable, capable of working and thinking independently and remaining calm in case of emergency.
• Working knowledge of campus and area roads preferred.
• Previous experience in the transporting industry, bus, cab, etc. preferred.
• Knowledge of GPS and smartphone usage preferred.
• Managing the route planning day to day scheduling workflow. Maintain
accurate records and proactively identify any issues or delays.
• Able to tolerate strenuous activity such as turning, pushing, bending, stooping, lifting and
intermittent walking.
• Flexibility, initiative and good judgment, and calmness in escalating situations.
• Strong desire to work closely and courteously with patients and co-workers.
• Must possess excellent intrapersonal skills, communicate skills and ability to work with patients and all levels of the organization.
