Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a Regular Worker to provide transportation services using laboratory vehicles for staff and visitors. You will operate shuttles and vans, follow the campus route schedule, and assist passengers with luggage. This role may require night and weekend shifts and on-campus pickups for events.

Responsibilities include safe operation of vehicles, adherence to scheduling, and support for guests and employees during travel across campus and to local transit hubs.

Position Description

Position Responsibilities

Position Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces
• Bending and Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist (>5 hours per day)
• Climbing Stairs: Ascending or descending stairs to gain access to a building; moving from one floor to another
• Light Lifting: Lifting objects less than 15 pounds from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from one position to another
• Moderate Lifting: Lifting objects 15 to 44 pounds
• Reaching Above Shoulder: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
• Sitting: Particularly for long periods of time

Visual Requirement

Enough to drive safely and read iPad/phone screen (Examples: able to see and read PC screens, detect color coding, read fine print, and/or normal type size print)

Hearing Requirement

Enough to Understand what clients are saying in normal conversation (Examples: able to detect specific noises, proper equipment operation, and understand what clients are saying in normal conversation)

Other Physical Requirements

• Ability to operate ADA equipped vehicles, including manual wheelchair lift when power lift unavailable

The salary range for this role is $19.44. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
