Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Van Driver to operate the hotel van to and from guest destinations in a safe and courteous manner. Responsibilities include assisting guests with luggage, promoting hotel facilities, and providing local information.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and a background in customer service. Shift coverage includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• Operate hotel shuttle van safely and courteously.

• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform daily inspections.
• Support Front Desk and housekeeping as needed.

What this role is all about

The Van Driver (VD) operates the hotel van to and from guest destinations in a safe and courteous manner.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards.
• Respond to all guest requests for shuttle service in a prompt and courteous manner; assist guests with luggage while boarding and off‑loading vehicle.
• As an airport hotel, maintain a strong commitment to transportation excellence by ensuring airline crew members and guests are picked up and dropped off safely, efficiently, and within required service time standards.
• Prompt and reliable transportation is an essential function of this position and directly impacts guest satisfaction, airline partnerships, and hotel performance.
• Operate vehicle in accordance with state laws; observe all airport rules pertaining to the shuttle vehicles.
• Explain and promote hotel facilities, outlets and services to guests and provide information regarding local attractions and activities.
• Perform daily inspection of vehicles; take necessary action to correct deficiencies or unsafe conditions; keep vehicle clean and neat at all times.
• Maintain vehicle mileage log.
• Regularly inspect and clear hotel entrance and surrounding areas of litter and debris.
• Maintain the appearance of the hotel’s front entrance by picking up trash, sweeping as needed, and ensuring a clean and welcoming arrival experience for guests.
• Clean lobby and entrance windows and glass doors to maintain a professional appearance.
• Assist with restocking the hotel market, grab‑and‑go area, guest amenities, and bottled water supplies throughout the property.
• Restock guest water stations and other designated hospitality items as needed.
• Deliver guest requests, amenities, packages, and other items to guest rooms in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide operational support to the Front Desk as needed, including answering hotel telephone calls, assisting guests with inquiries, transferring calls, and supporting guest service initiatives.
• Assist in housekeeping and/or laundry duties to include house attendant rounds and the washing, drying, and folding of hotel laundry.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
• Ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and proper delivery of guest services is delivered.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred.
• Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred.
• Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English; other languages beneficial.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Frequently standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility.
• Ability to carry, lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 100 pounds.
• Frequently handling objects, equipment, luggage, and guest supplies.
• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast‑paced airport hotel environment.
• Will be required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
