Job summary

Express Employment Professionals - Cincinnati East, partnering with a reputable interior building materials company on the south side of Indianapolis, is seeking a Counter Sales / Customer Service Associate to support contractors and walk-in customers. This fast-paced role emphasizes high-level customer service and accurate order entry.

You will greet customers, identify needs, prepare quotes, enter orders, process payments, and assist the outside sales team.

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of inside sales experience.
• Experience with interior building products preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; able to manage time well.
• Detail-oriented with a strong customer-service focus.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and emails promptly and professionally.
• Greet and assist walk-in customers.
• Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
• Up-sell and cross-sell additional products and supplies when appropriate.
• Prepare quotes, enter orders, and input job pricing accurately.
• Accept payments and apply them to the appropriate customer accounts.
• Support the outside sales team with order entry and customer coordination.
• Work closely with dispatch to schedule deliveries efficiently.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff for customer pickups and deliveries.
• Maintain showroom inventory, organization, and cleanliness.
• Reorder products to ensure inventory levels are maintained.
• Address and resolve customer service concerns professionally.
• Build relationships with new customers and maintain long-term customer partnerships.
• Gather customer feedback to help improve service and operations.
• Assist with merchandising and branch sales initiatives.
• Perform additional duties as assigned—this is a collaborative environment where everyone helps out
