Freeport-McMoRan Inc. seeks a Shovel/Drill Diagnostic Mechanic I at Morenci, AZ. This on-site role performs system diagnostics, replacements and repairs on electrical and hydraulic components, conducts mechanical maintenance and completes Work Orders to support production.

You may train and mentor coworkers and perform welding tasks when required. Morenci is a historic copper mining complex located about 50 miles northeast of Safford.

Qualifications

• Two years of mechanical/maintenance experience or equivalent education.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions in English.
• Proficiency in layout and design and working from blueprints.

Responsabilités

Where You Will Work

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

What You Will Do

• Perform system diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to electrical hydraulic systems; and component replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: dippers, handles, swing, propel, crowd and hoist transmissions, hoist cables, GET (ground engaging tools), drill bits, drill pipes, hydraulic pumps and motors, engines, electric motors, gear boxes, compressors, auto lube systems, and hydraulic valves and hoses.
• Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
• Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance.
• Responsible for the accurate completion of Work Orders.
• Train and mentor other employees.
• May be required to proficiently perform welding tasks, such as: carbon arc, plasma, Mig, Tig, and stick.
• May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
• Shovel/Drill Diagnostic Mechanic I: Practical Skills Assessments defined in LOP.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures and applicable safety standards
• Proficient in layout and design and working from blueprints.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work closely with other maintenance team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$28.00 - $38.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
