Job summary

Intellectt Inc in Foster City, CA is seeking a cost engineer to guide Designers for new or modified designs to achieve functionality at minimum cost, applying DFA/DFM tools and collaborating on a Design to Target approach in early product development planning.

You will develop cost targets for mechanical and electrical parts, provide should-cost analyses to procurement, perform teardown benchmarking, participate in VA/VE activities, and present monthly project cost updates to upper management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial or Electrical Engineering.
• 7-10 years of industry experience.
• Proficient in BDI/A-priori or related costing software.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings.
• Working knowledge of a Bill of Materials.
• VA/VE techniques with strong financial awareness.
• Functional understanding of 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide cost guidance to Designers/Design Engineers for new or modified designs to achieve function at minimum cost.
• Apply DFA/DFM tools to analyze proposed designs and propose improvements.
• Collaborate on a Design to Target approach in early product development planning.
• Develop cost targets for mechanical engine parts (castings, stamped parts, extrusions, injection-moulded).
• Develop cost targets for electrical engine parts (harness, PCB, DC motors, batteries).
• Provide should-cost analyses to procurement for supplier negotiations.
• Perform teardown benchmarking and develop should-cost models.
• Participate in VA/VE activities and generate cost-reduction ideas.
• Present project cost updates with risks and opportunities to upper management monthly.
• Be a resource of cost information for organization and cost tracking of current products.
