Position Summary

As the Short Hills Auxiliary Extended Care Lead, you will oversee the aftercare program on our Short Hills campus. You'll execute the afternoon extended day program, Monday through Friday from 3:10-5:00pm ensuring a safe, enriching, and enjoyable experience for students. This role entails supervising staff, managing program logistics, maintaining communication and building relationships with various stakeholders, and ensuring smooth operations. This is a part-time 10-month position, reporting to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs and Registrar. You'll also collaborate closely with the Enrichment Coordinator to support the Lower School's enrichment sessions throughout the fall, winter, and spring trimesters.

Responsibilities



  • Supervise and manage the afternoon extended day program, including overseeing students attending aftercare and providing necessary support.
  • Manage a team of Aftercare Associates, ensuring effective communication, coordination, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate all aspects of aftercare activities, including attendance, snack time, homework assistance, recess, games, and recreational activities.
  • Collaborate with the Enrichment Coordinator to align after-school offerings and activities with the school's curriculum and goals.
  • Assist the Auxiliary Registrar in managing student enrollment using CampBrain software and input monthly family billing for Extended Care.
  • Maintain communication and coordination with enrichment specialists to support program effectiveness and address any concerns or issues.
  • Manage inventory and execute supply purchases for the extended day program under the approval of the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Coordinate with the Lower School Administrative Assistant and the Operations Lead to ensure accurate daily bus attendance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, recreation management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in a camp or educational setting.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a customer-service mindset.
  • Proficiency in using CampBrain software or similar registration systems is desirable.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Experience and expertise in creating a culture of equity and belonging.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, colleagues, and the school community.
  • Skilled in navigating the Google Suite of applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc.).
  • Dedicated to partnering collaboratively with a team of talented faculty to implement an inspirational academic program.
  • Knowledge and expertise in cultivating a culture of equity through teaching and curriculum.
