The Department of Environmental Protection, Bureau of Land Resources, seeks an Environmental Specialist III to perform shoreland zoning duties in the Augusta office. The role includes site visits, SLZ trainings, ordinance evaluation, and enforcement actions to support compliance with the Mandatory Shoreland Zoning Act.

Qualifikationen

• Six (6) year combination of education and/or experience in environmental, biological, physical science, or engineering including two (2) years of environmental experience.
• Qualifying education must include at least 15 credit hours of science or engineering coursework from an accredited institution.

Aufgaben

• Oversee implementation of the Mandatory Shoreland Zoning Act in Central Maine.
• Conduct site visits and SLZ trainings; evaluate municipal ordinances and assist municipalities.
• Pursue formal enforcement actions and assist in administering the Municipal Shoreline Protection Legal Fund.
• Coordinate with managers in other regional offices and communicate regulatory information clearly.
