Job summary

Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) is seeking a shore-based Marine Tankerman to support transfers on barges and vessels in the lower Ohio/Nashville area, reporting to the Marine Tankering Services Supervisor. The role requires the ability to work in remote locations, day or night, and uphold MPC safety standards.

Responsibilities include transferring barges per MPC procedures and USCG rules, performing minor barge maintenance, and training new Tankermen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must have a valid USCG Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) with Tankerman-PIC (Barge) endorsement and a valid TWIC card.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct barge transfers based on MPC procedures and USCG regulations.
• Troubleshoot and perform minor maintenance on barges.
• Operate heaters on hot oil barges and document transfer times for office reporting.
• Maintain uniforms and equipment in good condition and ready for transfers.
• Interface with customers following MPC policies and participate in safety trainings.
