Bolder Apps is hiring a mid-senior Shopify Developer on a fully remote monthly retainer to build and extend Shopify storefronts and apps for client work. You’ll ship Liquid themes and modern Shopify surfaces, partnering with US-based founders and product owners.

We value real merchant-store launches and multi-client agency experience. You’ll own a store build end-to-end, work asynchronously, and use AI tools to move fast while ensuring production-ready handoffs.

Qualifications

• Shipped Shopify stores or apps in multi-client settings, not just demos.
• Client-facing experience in agency/consultancy is preferred.
• Strong Liquid and theme fluency with clean, scalable code.

Responsibilities

• Own Shopify theme and storefront work from brief to launch across multiple engagements.
• Build and maintain Liquid sections, templates, and theme architecture for easy extension by future developers.
• Implement Checkout Extensibility and Shopify Functions as needed, plus custom apps when required.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and clients on scope, performance, SEO basics, analytics hooks, and launch risk.

We're hiring a mid-senior Shopify Developer on a remote monthly retainer to build and extend Shopify storefronts and apps for client work at Bolder Apps. You'll work directly with US-based founders and product owners, ship Liquid themes and modern Shopify surfaces, and leave code the next engineer can extend. We want someone who has shipped real merchant stores or apps in an agency or multi-client setting, not only a single personal theme demo. If you can own a store build, untangle a messy live theme, and keep client trust while saying no to bad technical ideas, we want to talk.

Responsibilities

• Own Shopify theme and storefront work for client stores from brief through launch, across more than one engagement when the pipeline needs it
• Build and maintain Liquid sections, templates, and theme architecture that merchants and the next developer can extend
• Implement Checkout Extensibility, Shopify Functions, and modern app surfaces when the store needs more than theme edits
• Build or extend custom Shopify apps (Node/Remix or similar) for admin, storefront, or checkout workflows when the brief requires it
• Partner with PMs, designers, and US clients on scope cuts, performance, SEO basics, analytics hooks, and launch risk
• Use AI coding tools to move faster, then review the output yourself before it hits a client store or production app
• Flag risk early when the theme is a fork nightmare, the app scope is fake, or Shopify constraints conflict with the ask
• Leave clear handoff notes, env setup, and repo hygiene so another engineer can pick up without archaeology.

• Shipped Shopify work. 3+ years building production Shopify themes and/or apps that went live. Portfolio or store list shows real launches, not only theme demos.
• Client-facing craft. Agency or consultancy experience preferred. You have sat on calls with founders or merchants, explained trade-offs, and kept trust while saying no to bad ideas.
• Liquid and theme fluency. Sections, snippets, JSON templates, metafields, and clean theme structure. You can untangle a messy live theme without making it worse.
• Modern Shopify surface. Comfortable with Checkout Extensibility and/or Shopify Functions, or custom apps on the current Shopify app stack (Remix/Node or similar). Hydrogen/headless is a plus, not a hard gate.
• Store quality habits. Performance, accessibility basics, responsive storefronts, and careful production deploys.
• AI-augmented workflow. You use Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to accelerate implementation, and you catch when the output is almost right but wrong for Shopify.
• English at C1 or above. Client calls and written updates go out in your voice.
• US hours overlap. Available through roughly 5 PM EST for live client coordination.
• Ownership habits. Honest estimates, early blockers, finished commits. No disappearing acts.
