Job summary

Kokosing Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled Shop Welder to join our production shop. You will weld, fabricate, and assemble components and fixed assets in a shop setting, following drawings and established procedures.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of shop welding experience and proficiency across MIG, TIG, and FCAW processes, with the ability to read blueprints and ensure high-quality workmanship. This is a full-time, on-site role with emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of shop welding and fabrication experience.
• Proficiency in MIG (GMAW), TIG (GTAW), FCAW welding.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Shop fabrication: weld, assemble parts, frames, brackets, and components to drawings and specs.
• Ensure all work meets quality standards and project requirements.
• Material preparation: cut, grind, fit, and prepare materials for welding.
• Verify material dimensions and readiness before fabrication begins.
• Layout and fit-up: measure, layout, mark, and fit components accurately.
• Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols for proper assembly.
• Quality control: inspect welds and fabricated components for accuracy and quality.
• Identify and correct defects when necessary.
• Shop organization: maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist with inventory organization and restocking of shop materials as needed.
• Safety compliance: follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and equipment guidelines.
• Maintain awareness of workplace hazards and contribute to safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Required

• 3-5 years of shop welding and fabrication experience.
• Proficiency in: MIG (GMAW) TIG (GTAW) Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) Air Arc Gouging Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Valid drivers license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime during peak workload periods.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred

• Current welding certifications.
• Experience working with a variety of metals and fabrication techniques.
• Familiarity with shop equipment, machinery, and material handling practices.
