Job summary

Altorfer Inc. seeks a skilled diesel engine technician to provide technical service in a shop environment, troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines, overhauls, and related duties.

You will assist with tear downs, parts staging, testing, and ensuring high-quality customer service. Requirements include a minimum 2-year Diesel Engine Technology degree (or equivalent), CDL, and strong communication and customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year degree from an accredited Diesel Engine Technology Program or equivalent experience in mechanical service work.
• PC skills required and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
• Must have outstanding positive attitude and strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines in shop.
• Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines.
• Perform engine overhauls and major repairs as needed.
• Order parts for work orders and document work on timecards and service reports.
• Coordinate with service office to schedule work and assist with repair quotes.
• May perform other related duties as requested.

7 to 4 pm Monday - Friday / Saturdays when required OT when available

Overview

Provide technical service support to Power Systems customers in a shop environment. This support is in the form of maintaining and troubleshooting diesel engines. Able to successfully perform a complete engine overhaul, Assist in the shop with engine tear downs, cleaning parts, staging parts for bigger engines, installing and testing to ensure the concern is fixed. Ensures quality customer service activities designed to increase customer satisfaction.

Basic Duties

• Performs troubleshooting and repair of diesel engines in shop.
• Performs routine maintenance on diesel engines.
• Performs engine overhauls and other major repairs, as needed.
• Parts ordering for work orders.
• Reports work on timecards and service reports.
• Works with service office to coordinate work.
• Assists service office with repair quotes.
• May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-year degree from an accredited Diesel Engine Technology Program or equivalent experience in mechanical service work.

• Must always have outstanding positive attitude!
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent customer service skills necessary.
• Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
• Class A or B CDL
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have a valid license and clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

Job will generally be performed at Altorfer service facility. This position requires extensive standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling, talking and hearing, and using fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls. May lift up to 75 lbs. Will be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields, hearing protection, etc.) when needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.
