Job summary

Downing Wellhead Equipment, LLC is seeking a Shop Technician to join our Oklahoma shop. The role centers on assembling Wellhead and Frac equipment, reading blueprints, and preparing gear for transport in a safety-conscious environment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of related experience. Expect physical work, tool handling, and adherence to QHSE standards in a fast-paced shop setting.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
• Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies and basic hand tools.
• Ability to read, write and communicate well.
• Solve practical problems that exist with a variety of concrete variables where only limited standardization exists.
• Limited computer knowledge.
• Determine the correct equipment and tools needed to do a job correctly.

Responsibilities

• Assemble new equipment for sale or rent in Downing's product line.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and procedures.
• Perform general shop maintenance of the shop, work area and equipment.
• Prepare equipment for transport.

• Contribute to safety and quality reports and records as related to training, safety and quality.

What is a Shop Technician?
The Shop Technician primarily works in the assembly shop building equipment for use in the oil and gas industry. A Shop Technician may be asked to assemble wellhead equipment or build assemblies of various complexity for our FS product line.

In this role, you will:

• Assembly of new equipment in Downing's product offering for sale or rent
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and procedures
• Execute general shop maintenance such as cleanup of shop, work area and equipment
• Preparation of Equipment for Transport
• Clean, assemble, test, and paint Wellhead and Frac equipment
• Necessary upkeep of all hand and power tools
• Perform duties for QHSE as related to safety and quality, training of personnel, safety & quality reports, logs, etc.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required and Preferred Abilities:

• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures
• Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies and basic hand tools
• Ability to read, write and communicate well
• Solve practical problems that exists with a variety of concrete variable in situation where only limited standardization exist
• Limited computer knowledge
• Determine the correct equipment and tools needed to do a job correctly

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
• Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or less

  (SEF Energy employees shall not manually lift an item weighing more than 50 lbs., they shall utilize mechanical assistance devices. If mechanical assistance devices are not available, utilize a team lift.)

• Exposure to fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and moving mechanical parts
• Noise level in the shop may be loud

Education:

• High school degree or equivalent. This requirement may be waived if the applicant possesses two years of related experience and/or training
• Minimum 1 year of related experience
