Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company, Inc. is seeking an Earthmoving Shop Technician to service and repair earthmoving equipment. The role requires working independently or in a team, evaluating and repairing equipment, and progressing through classifications based on attitude, skill, and performance.

The position emphasizes safety, customer service, and efficient problem solving. Applicants should have a high school diploma and at least one year of mechanical repair experience, with basic computer skills;

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of one year’s work experience involving mechanical repairs or related education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred.
• MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Repairs on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove/install; disassemble/reassemble; minor adjustments.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.
• Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner.
• Tests and adjusts components for optimal performance.
• Works independently in the shop as required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.

Position Summary

The Earthmoving Shop Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. The candidate must be able to evaluate and repair earth moving equipment. Complete on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning. The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in Classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

Essential Responsibilities & Expectations

• Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs the following tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; minor adjustments as needed for service.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.

Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or the equivalent.

Experience

• A minimum of one (1) year’s work experience involving mechanical repairs or a combination of relevant experience and equivalent technical education required.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills required.
• Med Card and CDL preferred.
• MVR required.
