Job summary

Thompson Tractor Company is seeking an Earthmoving Shop Technician to service and repair heavy equipment in our service department shop. The role requires hands-on diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and the ability to work independently or in a team.

You will evaluate and repair earth-moving equipment, follow safety procedures, and participate in on-the-job and classroom training. A valid driver’s license and MVR check are required, with CDL/Med Card preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of work experience involving mechanical repairs or equivalent technical education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred.
• MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove, install, disassemble, reassemble, minor adjustments.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems.
• Orders and return parts for assigned jobs promptly.
• Tests and adjusts components for optimal performance.
• Works independently in the shop.

The Earthmoving Shop Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. The candidate must be able to evaluate and repair earth moving equipment. Complete on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning . The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in Classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.
