Job summary

Thompson Tractor is seeking an Earthmoving Shop Technician to service and repair earthmoving equipment in a service department setting. You will evaluate, diagnose, and repair engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems, both independently and with a team.

The position requires adherence to safety standards, effective use of service information systems, and timely parts handling. A high school diploma and at least one year of mechanical repair experience are expected; Med Card and

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of mechanical repair experience or equivalent technical education.
• Experience using personal computers and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred.
• MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs repairs on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; make minor adjustments as needed for service.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
• Orders and returns parts for assigned jobs in a timely manner
• Tests and adjusts components for optimal performance
• Works independently in the shop as required
• Must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.

Job description

The Earthmoving Shop Technician is responsible for performing jobs involving servicing and repair of equipment, working both independently and on a team. The candidate must be able to evaluate and repair earth moving equipment. Complete on the job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning . The Technician will demonstrate initiative, commitment to teamwork, enthusiasm for customer service, and dedication to finding solutions in an efficient manner. The Technician will advance in Classification as attitude, skill level, and job performance allows.

• Adheres to and follows all applicable and required safety standards and procedures.
• Plans and performs minor repairs using correct tools and procedures.
• Performs the following tasks on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; minor adjustments as needed for service.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
• Demonstrates proper use of service information systems
• Orders and return parts for assigned jobs in timely manner
• Test and adjust components for optimal performance
• Works independently in the shop as required
• Must have a valid driver’s license to be eligible for hire.
