Purpose

The goal of the Shop Technician is to be learn the practical techniques required for the preparation of NDT Global's tools and to perform and provide guidance in all work in the refurbishment, assembly, testing, and preparation for transport of pipeline inspection tools to ensure the successful execution of assigned projects.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the support and assistance for the robot:
  • Inspection tool preparation and verification: assembly, configuration, and confirmation of the inspection tool to a defined build state
  • Inspection tool testing: testing for proper set up and functionality
  • Inspection tool maintenance: work performed on the inspection tool in the course of normal maintenance
  • Inspection tool replacement: the work on the inspection tool for the purpose of refurbishment to a given state
  • Interprets technical drawings and applies the information as it relates to assembling the robots
  • Raises any potential assembly and maintenance problems, issues or concerns with supervisor in a timely manner
  • Assists in completing the required procedures and checklists per NDT procedures
  • Ensures work is carried out safely, with the highest quality to deliver exceptional internal customer service
  • Carries out daily risk assessments as part of their duties in line with HSEQ standards
  • Supports flow of information to different departments in order to achieve a successful project build

Requirements And Education

  • A two-year degree, diploma or technical vocational training as an Engineer Technician in Mechatronic, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of corresponding work experience, ideally in the oil and gas sector
  • A background in In-line Inspection (ILI) or Ultrasonic (UT) is preferred
  • Awareness of safety standards and procedures in industrial settings
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and maintenance tracking software
  • Demonstrates aptitude for learning new technologies and concepts
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems
  • Competency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of technical drawings and tool configurations
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English

Skillset

  • Attention to detail for identifying defects or inefficiencies in tools and equipment
  • Ability to follow technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
  • Clear and effective communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with engineers and team members
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar applications for reporting
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving industry requirements
