Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a warehouse associate to support general warehouse operations, including receiving freight, stocking, inventory checks, and tool maintenance. You will learn the technical items of the trade in a safety-focused environment.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in a team or independently, and follow written and oral directions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow directions.
• Experience with small/light equipment or tools is a plus.

This position is responsible for general warehouse operations such as organizing/cleaning the workspace, refilling stock, general safety and learning the technical items of the trade.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• General warehouse operations.
• Receiving freight, operating a forklift, and stocking the warehouse.
• Perform all inventory counts and maintain inventory stock levels.
• Check in orders and stock all inventory items.
• Trailer towing competency — Demonstrates skill in pulling, backing, and accurately placing trailers using company vehicles.
• Stocking and delivering materials.
• Keep shop organized and clean.
• Maintain, clean, and organize all shop tools.
• Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Education/Qualification:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
• Requires the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Requires the ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery.

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, equipment, cabling, and/or wiring.
• Frequent ladder climbing and checking, pulling wire, etc.
• Walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead.
