Job summary

AFC Industries in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Shop Technician to join our team. This hands-on role builds electrical control panels and hydraulic/pneumatic assemblies, reads schematics and BOMs, and learns unfamiliar systems.

You will coordinate with sales and operations to meet delivery schedules, troubleshoot panels, and maintain quality. The position offers full-time hours, a competitive hourly wage, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of electrical control panel assembly and/or hydraulic experience preferred.
  • Strong background in Point to Point and Functional Testing a plus.
  • Ability to understand and work from technical schematics.
  • Have or Learn Basic computer skills: MS Office, ERP, Scheduling Tools
  • High School Graduate or equivalent - related Technical Degree a plus
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and all physical requirements associated with Panel Building

Responsibilities

  • Follow electrical and hydraulic schematics / drawings to assemble industrial electrical panels and hydraulic power units.
  • Layout wireway, din rail & components in accordance with drawings.
  • Mounting of components to back panels and enclosures.
  • Routing and bundling of wire and cables neatly to meet wiring standards.
  • Point to point wiring of relays, controls, PLCs, I/O Modules, VFDs, Interfaces, & Instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoot panels as needed to eliminate wiring errors and component malfunctions.
  • Maintain red line drawing mark-ups of changes required during fabrication.
  • Problem-solve technical issues.
  • Inspect orders when they are complete.
  • Maintain shop tools and supplies and perform other duties as assigned or as needed

Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Shop Technician has primary responsibility for EMCO an AFC Industries Company. This important position is a hands‑on role that requires in depth knowledge of building electrical control cabinets and mechanical sub‑assemblies. Aside from electro‑mechanical solutions, they will need to know, or learn, how to build hydraulic and pneumatic panels and assemblies.

The Shop Technician is responsible for all technical and administrative tasks associated with equipment builds and quality control. The Shop Technician will assist in coordinating production with sales and operations to meet delivery schedules and profitability goals.

Our optimum candidate will be dependable, have a working knowledge of schematics and BOMs, possess the ability and willingness to learn unfamiliar systems, be familiar with hand power tools and reading tape measures, lead by example, be a team player, be accountable, have strong communication skills, enjoy solving problems, and stay calm under pressure.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to problem solve and learn related skills quickly
  • Ability to learn hydraulic and pneumatic skills and/or electrical skills
  • Basic computer skills, experience with MS Office, ERP, Scheduling Tools are a plus

Position: Full‑time

Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM Flex hours available after training, (7am-5pm)

Pay Rate: $22-28/hour, depending upon experience
