Job summary

The Home Depot in Marietta, GA is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to repair and maintain a broad rental fleet of earth-moving, aerial, landscaping, and material-handling equipment. You will perform complex repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems and diesel engines, with safety as a priority.

Responsibilities include documenting work on tablet devices, advanced troubleshooting, inspections, and safe operations of forklifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• At least 3 years of experience in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
• Ability to perform advanced electrical and hydraulic system troubleshooting.
• Welding repairs on equipment and trailers.
• Forklift operation and safe handling of materials.
• Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork and safety-consciousness.

Responsibilities

• 10% Administrative work: document work, complete work orders, track parts usage and labor.
• 40% Advanced troubleshooting and repairs: electrical, hydraulic, diesel engines, small engines, fuel systems, oil/air filtration, ignition, etc.; welding repairs as needed.
• 30% Inspections and audits: aerial lift inspections, tablet work orders, GPS checks and IT coordination.
• 20% Safety: follow shop safety protocol, proper storage of fuels and waste oils, safe lifting/moving; operate forklift.

Job description

Schedule is Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.

Position Purpose

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of machines in the rental fleet, including earth-moving, aerial, landscaping, and material handling equipment. Work ranges in scope from general repairs and maintenance, up to more complex repairs on hydraulic and electrical systems and diesel engines.

Key Responsibilities

• 10% Administrative Work - Documents all work performed on tablet technology, including completion of work orders to capture parts usage and labor, performing parts inventory counts, etc.
• 40% Perform Advance Troubleshooting and Repairs - Performs advanced electrical system troubleshooting and repairs; Performs advanced hydraulic system troubleshooting and repairs; Performs diesel engine troubleshooting and repairs; Performs troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc.; Performs maintenance and repairs on trailers; Makes welding repairs to equipment and trailers
• 30% Perform Inspections and Audits - Performs aerial lift inspections according to required checklist; Documents all work performed on tablet technology, including completion of work orders to capture parts usage and labor, performing parts inventory counts, etc.; Checks GPS units on equipment and ensures they are activated and properly checking in, and troubleshoots with IT team as needed
• 20% Safety - Follows shop safety protocol, including proper storage of supplies and fuel, proper disposal of waste oils and fluids, and proper lifting and moving of materials and equipment; Safely operates forklift to load, unload, and move equipment and materials in the shop and yard

Travel Requirements

• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements

• Must continuously stand or walk or regularly requires lifting/handling/carrying material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Working Conditions

• Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odors, temperature extremes, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
