Qualifications

• Equivalent work experience in a shop environment will be considered.
• Must be self-motivated, flexible, and able to meet deadlines. Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities.
• Work is typically performed in the shop, which is a hazardous environment. Safety considerations include electrical, heat and fire, mechanical hazards, radiation, fumes and deposits, noise, equipment operation, heavy materials moving, and driving hazards.

Responsibilities

• Safety: Maintain a safe work environment; wear PPE as required and follow safety rules and instructions.
• Mechanical: Assist in maintenance and repair; service and clean shop equipment; replace worn parts; use lockout/tagout procedures.
• Fabrication: Assist welders with welding; participate in pipe and plate fabrication; prepare materials; operate equipment.
• Maintenance: Clean and organize shop daily; move materials and furniture; replace light bulbs and filters; inspect fire extinguishers and maintain MSDS books.
• Yard: Keep yard organized; dispose of outdated equipment; assist in recycling and waste disposal.
• Other: General building and grounds maintenance; assist in records management and supplies.
• Problem Resolution: Handle routine problems and schedule interruptions.
• Performance: Follow instructions; work well with a wide variety of people.
