Job summary

MYR Group Inc. in Rochester Hills, MI, is seeking a Fleet Equipment Supervisor to lead and optimize a maintenance program for our fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment.

You will supervise mechanics and vendors, schedule preventative maintenance, and manage inventory and parts to minimize downtime. The role requires at least five years of fleet maintenance experience, a high school diploma, strong safety focus, and solid computer and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanics, fuel & lube technicians, and vendors.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance for designated Company equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment as needed.
  • Oversee inspection and repair of designated Company vehicles and equipment and provide recommendations on course of action accordingly.
  • Understand and ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Oversee mechanics in the performance of all repairs on both light and heavy equipment.
  • Document work performed by utilizing system software programs.
  • Ensure OSHA standards and company safety policies are always complied with.
  • Coordinate with safety department to ensure a safe work environment is maintained.
  • Secure and analyze vendor quotes and estimates for services, tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels of parts, tools and supplies.
  • Develop and maintain vendor list and continuously monitor overall quality of service provided.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Fleet Equipment Supervisor is responsible for operating an efficient and effective operation through knowledge of equipment, cost controls, achievement of objectives, and maintenance of all relevant equipment records.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise work of designated mechanics, fuel & lube technicians, and vendors

ABOUT YOU
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fleet equipment maintenance
  • High school diploma or GED
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Proficient with computer systems as related to utilization of scheduling of manpower/resources, implementation of preventative maintenance programs and inventory management systems
  • General knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Strong commitment to safety

  • This will be a union position. Wage depends on experience and certifications, and benefits are detailed within the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
