Job summary

Bay Ltd. in Corpus Christi, TX is seeking a shop structural fitter to fabricate, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products such as machinery frames, tanks, vessels, and catwalks in a fabrication shop or yard.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years’ experience, can read blueprints, and holds NCCER certification or can pass a written test. You will work with hand tools, welding torches, and hoists, while adhering to safety policies.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary

The shop structural fitter1 will fabricate, position, align, and fit parts of structural metal products, such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, catwalks, and grating according to blueprints or drawings in a fabrication shop or yard.

Essential Functions

• Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers
• Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes
• Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subunits, following blueprints and layout specifications, using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools
• Bolts, clamps, and tack welds parts to secure in position for welding
• Fabricates machinery frames, tanks, vessels, catwalks, and grating
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks
• Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education And Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least 3 years’ experience as a structural fitter
• Valid NCCER or able to pass a written test

• Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
