Job summary

Wheeler Machinery in Vernal, UT is seeking a qualified Shop Service Technician to safely diagnose, maintain and repair Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar equipment. You will help minimize downtime and gain exposure to Caterpillar systems and repairs.

Responsibilities include following safety programs, ordering parts, delivering service reports, and meeting deadlines while maintaining a professional appearance. Overtime and on-call work may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced equipment and diesel repair experience.
• Experience with safely diagnosing, maintaining, repairing Caterpillar mining equipment.
• Proficient with Caterpillar service software programs e.g., Cat Electronic Technician, SIS Web, DBS and SIMSI
• Must have necessary hand, pneumatic and electrical diagnostic tools.
• Ability to work with customers and a team.
• Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
• Attention to detail and quality.
• Maintain a clean work area and contamination control expectations.
• Self-motivated and able to work safely with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Utilize and comply with company and customer site safety programs, processes and procedures.
• Adhere to company and site lock-out-tag-out requirements.
• Communicate with supervisor and Wheeler Machinery personnel daily.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Identify and order replacement parts and components.
• Produce quality repairs while adhering to schedules and deadlines.
• Understand and meet flat-rate expectations.
• Deliver accurate service reports, core returns and warranty documents.
• Maintain professional appearance per policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
