Job Summary

Shop Service Technician

Reports To: Service Manager

FLSA Code: Hourly Non-Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative and routine repairs on DEUTZ and non-DEUTZ products at the DEUTZ Power Center Facility.
  • Liaise with DEUTZ customers, Parts Specialists, and the Service supervisor.
  • Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned.
  • Pre-Order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs.
  • Conduct repairs safely and effectively and ensure all repairs are completed as assigned.
  • Ensure the cosmetic appearance of vehicles upon completion of repairs.
  • Return unused parts and materials per DEUTZ Power Center guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Communicate with customers respectfully and honestly.
  • Match identified failures to solutions necessary to complete repairs.
  • Complete all work orders and time sheets promptly.
  • Consult with the DEUTZ Service Department to ensure accuracy and approval of repairs when necessary.
  • Perform work in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in filing warranty claims and customer invoices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Qualifications
  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills for professional interaction with customers in person and over the phone.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify issues, brainstorm solutions, and implement the best option.
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness across all areas involved.
  • Time management and organizational skills to manage tasks, set goals, and develop systems to achieve them.
Experience & Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED and at least two years of diesel engine experience.
  • Proficient in basic computer use and portable diagnostic tools.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a shop service technician.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of DEUTZ diesel engines.
  • Candidate must have their own tools.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing NG/CNG, Tier 3-4 emissions level is preferred.
  • Certification/training in heavy equipment and diesel engine repairs preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Work in an environment where standing and walking are common; may be exposed to weather conditions and loud noises.
