Job Description

Position: Shop Mechanic; Construction Equipment and Heavy Trucks.

Gregori Construction Inc. is looking for an experienced, reliable mechanic to maintain and repair our diesel and gas construction equipment, large trucks, crew trucks, and small equipment.

General Description:

Our Mechanic typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the workflow necessitates and priorities change. We are looking for a reliable self-starter that can work with minimal supervision. This person should have strong diagnostic skills, mechanical skills, good communications skills, a good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions.

Compensation:

Pay range is based on your Skills, Knowledge, and Experience and we are looking for experienced candidates.

Work Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift or 4-10 HR shifts
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend availability
  • Some overtime maybe required

Responsibilities:

  • The mechanic will be responsible for repairs and maintenance of heavy equipment as well as other miscellaneous work that needs to be performed. Heavy equipment includes trucks, wheel loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, excavators, and other construction equipment and trucks.
  • Communicate any major maintenance/repairs that need to be completed on the equipment and trucks to management.
  • Mechanic will also be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment. This includes all equipment as well as the facilities.
  • The mechanic will be responsible for keeping and turning in the required paperwork to management: Maintenance needs, Parts and Service Work orders and Invoices, Safety Documentation, and cost coding
  • Employees are required to ensure Health & Safety standards are met by complying with legislation, company policies and promoting a safe work environment.

The applicant must be able to:

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs on motorized equipment, including gas- and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic systems and electrical and electronics.
  • Analyze malfunctions and repairs, rebuild and maintain construction equipment, such as paving machines, motor graders, bulldozers, loaders, pump compressors and pneumatic tools.
  • Read and understand technical service manuals.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Work cooperatively with others.
  • Drive vehicles, such as automobiles, pick-up trucks, dump trucks, tractors, graders, compactors, bulldozers, loaders, scrapers, excavators and other light and heavy construction equipment and needed for maintenance and repairs.
  • Weld broken parts and structural members.
  • Ability to arrive at work promptly on time and meet employment attendance expectations consistently.
  • On-site repairs and maintenance at construction jobsite locations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid drivers license, Class B CDL preferred.
  • Able to communicate effectively with vendors and others.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the construction industry.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work easily and skillfully with hands; climb and work at heights, work in confined spaces and around water.

Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort required. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds occasionally for hand work; Must be able to stand, bend, stretch for extended periods of time; ability to bend crouch and climb on and off the equipment repetitively; Use hands, arms and legs fully, acceptable vision (either naturally or with corrective lens).

Continuous mental and visual attention required to complete tasks in an efficient manner involving repetitive or diversified work requiring alertness of activity. Constant care is necessary to prevent injury to others due to inherent hazards of construction work. Any accident should be immediately reported to the supervisor. The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., moving equipment, backing alarms, or other alarms, instructions/directions from supervisor and/or spotter).

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described below are representative of those that a Mechanic encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Most work is performed in the shop, but some will be outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project.
  • Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
  • Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as from oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel and ready mixed concrete.

Expected hours: 40 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Experience:

  • Mechanical knowledge: 2 years (Required) - 5 years Preferred

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 25% (Preferred)
