Job summary

Mid Cal Labor in Texas is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic with hydraulics experience to inspect, repair, and maintain lift trucks and related equipment. The role requires interpreting blueprints, performing diagnostics, and executing repairs on engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.

Candidates should have at least three years of diesel/hydraulics experience, vocational training in these areas, and the ability to read technical material. Welding skills to AWSD14 are a plus for advancement.

Qualifications

• Three years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.
• Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.
• Basic computer skills required.
• It is required to pass the tacker test.
• Welding skills (AWSD14) may help for promotions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lift trucks and equipment to determine the extent of repairs.
• Perform repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction.
• Inspect, adjust, and repair components as needed.
• Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to improve fleet condition and performance.
• Operate equipment to troubleshoot and test equipment.
• Assist the parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Take service calls and assist when the Service Manager is unavailable.
• Clean and maintain the garage area as needed.
• Other related duties as required.

Education and Experience

• Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Three years of on-the-job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics.
• Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
• It is required to pass the tacker test.
• The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.
