Position Description

Position Summary

The Shop Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of company-owned and occasional outside rental equipment in a shop environment, maintaining productivity and customer satisfaction. Reports directly to the Garage Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Review work schedule, check equipment and supplies at shift start, and prepare for operations.
2. Work independently with minimal supervision.
3. Determine the status of trucks and equipment using on-board computers, service documents, and scan tools.
4. Verify findings, review gauge readings, and compare to manufacturer specifications.
5. Develop a plan to resolve issues, consulting with coworkers or supervision as needed.
6. Order or obtain parts from stock or send to specialized shops for tooling or alterations.
7. Install, replace, rebuild, or repair parts/equipment promptly and according to specifications.
8. Test repaired parts/equipment and perform quality checks.
9. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
10. Secure equipment and complete paperwork at shift end.
11. Ensure compliance with safety and contamination control guidelines.
