Job description

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Swiss Machinist / CNC Shop Manager for a growing precision machining company.

This is a highly hands-on shop‑floor leadership position for someone who can combine CNC Swiss machining expertise with day‑to‑day production leadership. The successful candidate will spend the majority of the day in the shop, working directly with machines and employees—not managing operations from an office.

We are particularly interested in an experienced Swiss machinist, lead machinist, shop foreman, manufacturing supervisor, or shop manager who is comfortable setting up and operating equipment, troubleshooting machining issues, and keeping a high‑mix production environment moving.

CNC programming capability is highly desired.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead day-to-day machine shop operations while remaining actively involved on the production floor
  • Set up and operate CNC Swiss screw machines to support production requirements
  • Review drawings, specifications, tolerances, and job requirements before production
  • Coordinate daily production schedules, machine assignments, manpower, materials, and job priorities
  • Support frequent setups, short production runs, custom work, rush jobs, and changing customer requirements
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, quality, and production issues
  • Program or modify CNC programs when needed, depending on experience
  • Work with tooling, speeds and feeds, workholding, and machining processes to improve performance
  • Perform and support first-article and in-process inspection using precision measuring equipment
  • Ensure finished components meet print, tolerance, and quality requirements
  • Monitor machine utilization, setup and cycle times, labor efficiency, scrap, rework, and overall shop productivity
  • Identify bottlenecks and adjust production priorities to keep work flowing
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and equipment repairs to minimize downtime
  • Train, develop, and provide day-to-day direction to machinists, operators, and other shop employees
  • Drive improvements in setup time, cycle time, quality, throughput, and overall manufacturing efficiency

Preferred Background:

  • Strong hands‑on experience with CNC Swiss screw machining
  • Experience setting up and operating Swiss‑style CNC equipment
  • Ability to program CNC equipment is highly desired
  • Experience with CAM‑based and CNC Swiss machining environments
  • Strong understanding of CNC machine tools, Swiss machining processes, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and machine setup
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications
  • Skilled with micrometers, gauges, and other precision inspection and measuring equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting machining problems and refining setups and processes
  • Background in a high‑mix, low‑volume or job‑shop manufacturing environment with frequent setups is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience as a Lead Machinist, Shop Foreman, Manufacturing Supervisor, Production Manager, or hands‑on Shop Manager is beneficial
  • Experience scheduling and prioritizing multiple jobs across machines and production resources
  • Understanding of estimated versus actual machining hours, production efficiency, scrap, and job costs
  • Experience machining small‑diameter precision components is valuable
  • Plastics machining experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong shop‑floor leadership and the ability to work directly alongside the production team
  • $80,000–$140,000 base salary, based on experience and technical capabilities
  • Medical benefits
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Discretionary bonus opportunity
  • Opportunity for continued professional growth

This opportunity is particularly well suited to someone who has developed strong CNC Swiss machining skills and is ready to combine those capabilities with broader responsibility for people, production, quality, scheduling, and overall shop performance.

If you are a hands‑on machining professional who enjoys solving problems on the shop floor and leading by example, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
