The Shop Manager is responsible for ensuring fleet is effectively and efficiently maintained to support the company’s business operations. The Shop Manager is responsible for effectively leading a team of mechanics to fulfill the maintenance needs of the entire fleet while maintaining a safe working environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be well-versed in all maintenance processes, health, and safety regulations.
- Ability to successfully complete administrative tasks such as reporting, budgeting, ordering, invoicing, etc.
- Oversee, manage, and direct all maintenance procedures and operations.
- Assess current maintenance work processes, to optimize efficiency.
- Create and implement measures to minimize breakdowns and repairs (performing quality checkoff all machinery, tools, equipment etc.).
- Troubleshoot problem areas and create a clear plan of action for fixing necessary parts.
- Create a work environment with safety as a high priority.
- Record and track daily progress/error reports.
- Enforce all health and safety rules and regulations according to state/federal laws and company protocol.
- Maintain parts inventory, monitor purchase orders, approve invoice is, and manages the department budget.
- Manages maintenance personnel by setting direction and priorities.
- Provides training and continuous development on all maintenance personnel.
- Developing and maintaining quality standards.
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:
- High school diploma/GED required or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years relevant experience in maintenance.
- 3-5 plus years managerial experience required (Maintenance/Shop Manager preferred).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and personal liability insurance coverage at or above the legal state of residence minimum requirements
Skills Required:
- Effectively and efficiently handle both administrative and maintenance responsibilities.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite).
- Ability to plan maintenance operations and track/report on activity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures.
- Excellent coaching skills.
- Self-motivated, results orientated and attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge/experience managing maintenance.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Specific physical requirements and/or environmental exposures are an essential part of the job.
- After hours and weekend work may be required
- Occasional travel
