Job summary

Gulf Island LLC in Houston, TX is seeking a Shop Helper to assist across Fabrication and I&E at Englobal Fabrication and Integration Shop.

You will operate grinders, torches, air tools, read tape measures, and support safe, efficient work in a learning role that spans multiple departments.

Indoor shop environment with varying temperatures; 6+ months in metal fabrication or construction; ability to lift up to 75 lb; weekend/overtime availability; ability to pass drug and background checks.

Qualifications

• 6+ months experience in Metal Fabrication or Construction (Residential or Commercial).
• Must be able to use basic tools, such as impacts, drills, angle grinders etc.
• Must be able to read a tape measure
• Must be able to work weekends and overtime when necessary
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen
• Must be able to pass a background check

About this position

Description:

Main Purpose:

The Shop Helper is responsible for assisting and learning in all areas of the Fabrication and Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Departments. This position is located in Houston, Texas at our Englobal Fabrication and Integration Shop.

Essential Functions:

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

• Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
• Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
• Pushing, pulling and reaching
• Must be able to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds

• Grinders, cutting torches, air tools, various machines and presses, tape measure etc.

Environmental Conditions:

80 to 90% of the work activities are performed indoors within our Englobal Fabrication and I&E Integration Shop. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet and dry conditions, dust, mud etc.
