Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an entry-level Machinist for an onsite contract-to-hire role in Willow Grove, PA. You will perform full machine setups, read blueprints, and handle shipping/receiving duties in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities include verifying incoming shipments, performing in-process inspections, and collaborating with programmers and engineers to improve part quality and efficiency. Safety and quality are emphasized throughout the role.

Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping and receiving processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and setup tooling.
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools for in-process inspection.

  • Verify incoming shipments against documentation and ensure proper labeling and documentation for outgoing shipments.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and determine machining requirements.
  • Perform full machine setups including tooling, fixtures, workholding, and offsets.
  • Machine a variety of materials and adjust feeds/speeds to meet tolerances and finishes.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and collaborate with programmers/engineers to improve quality and throughput.
  • Operate related equipment such as drill presses and other tools while maintaining safety and quality.

Job description

Pay: $18/hr (entry level)

Shift: 6am-230pm (daytime)

Responsibilities
  • Handle all shipping and receiving activities for inbound and outbound materials, parts, and products.

  • Verify incoming shipments against documentation and ensure outgoing shipments are properly labeled, packaged, and documented.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including regular cleaning tasks to support a tidy shop environment.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job travelers to determine machining requirements.

  • Perform complete machine setups, including installing tooling, fixtures, workholding, and setting offsets.

  • Machine a variety of materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, alloys, and specialty materials.

  • Adjust feeds, speeds, and tooling to achieve required tolerances and desired surface finishes.

  • Conduct in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring tools to verify part quality.

  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make real-time adjustments to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

  • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and shop leadership to improve part quality, throughput, and overall efficiency.

  • Operate related equipment such as drill presses and other machine tools as needed to complete jobs.

  • Follow all safety procedures and quality standards throughout shipping, receiving, and machining activities.

Essential Skills
  • Ability to independently perform full machine setups from print, including tooling, fixtures, workholding, and offsets.

  • Comfort working with tight tolerances and complex part geometries.

  • Thorough understanding of tooling, inserts, and cutting strategies for various materials.

  • Ability to perform accurate in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and other precision measuring tools.

  • Self-motivated work style with strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.

  • Capability to manage shipping and receiving tasks while maintaining organization and accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in general machine operating and manufacturing operations.

  • Comfort working with a range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, alloys, and specialty metals.

  • Willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives and adopt best practices in a job-shop setting.

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with programmers, engineers, and shop leadership.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Willow Grove, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
