Job summary

FMW is seeking a Shop Helper to support our fabrication team by preparing steel for welding and operating shop tools. Responsibilities include grinding, cutting, and prepping steel, as well as handling grinders, torches, saws, and mag drills. We value a motivated, detail-oriented individual who enjoys hands-on work.

The ideal candidate can commute to Strasburg, CO, lift up to 50 lbs, pass a drug screen, and communicate in English. Prior steel or shop fabrication experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in steel fabrication or related shop environment.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Experience with hand tools (drills, grinders, torches, etc.).
• Experience operating forklifts and overhead machinery.
• Basic understanding of shop blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Prepare steel for welding and fabrication.
• Operate shop tools (grinders, torches, saws, mag drills).
• Grind, cut and prep steel with attention to detail.
• Use provided PPE and follow safety protocols.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License
• Able to commute to Strasburg, CO 80136
• Ability to pass a drug screening
• English communication (written & verbal)
• Able to lift 50 lbs. and physically fit to handle steel material and tools
• Utilize provided PPE (personal protective equipment)

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in steel fabrication, construction, or shop fabrication
• Proven ability to read and interpret a tape measure accurately
• Experience using hand tools, including drills, grinders, torches, etc.
• Experience operating forklifts and overhead machinery to move materials
• Basic understanding of shop blueprints
