Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a Shop Helper at our Rapid City location. No prior experience required; you will support the repair shop team, learn the ins and outs of the shop operations, and have opportunities for advancement.

You’ll work with the latest equipment and a team dedicated to keeping our fleet in top condition. We offer a $100 hiring bonus, robust wellness programs, and a Technician Training program including Ford and GMC training classes and a tool purchase program.

Qualifications

• Requires a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance and mount tires.
• Maintain and recycle batteries.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
• Wash & detail trucks & trailers.
• Assist in Transfer Driving when necessary.
• Assist shop personnel.
• Lend assistance in additional areas as directed by supervisor.

Shop Helper Primary Responsibilities:

• Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance and mount tires
• Maintain and recycle batteries.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
• Wash & detail trucks & trailers
• Assist in Transfer Driving when necessary.
• Assist shop personnel.
• Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.

Shop Assistant Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a clean driving record

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
