Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years in parts procurement with supervisory experience.
• Able to communicate with managers, suppliers and field personnel.
• Proficient with MS Office, JIT, EOQ and physical inventories.
• Able to read and interpret business publications, manuals and regulations.
• Must work 2nd shift with rotating Saturdays in season and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Place part orders and review orders, update inventory in online systems.
• Conduct daily safety talks.
• Communicate with shop managers about repairs and issues.
• Manage preventive maintenance system for equipment.
• Walk shop and yard to ensure areas and equipment are secure.
• Routinely audit inventory for accuracy and needed quantities.
• Expedite delivery of parts to mechanics.
• Submit daily Shop Notes at end of shift.

Job purpose

The Construction Shop Foreman assists during a second shift team in coordinating activities involved with procuring parts, goods and services such as raw materials, small equipment, tools, parts, and supplies. Acts as assistant manager, coordinating activities of workers involved in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment by following duties. This is a 2nd shift role.

Duties and responsibilities

• Place part orders, review received orders and update inventory through online systems
• Conduct daily safety talks
• Communicate with other shop managers, process of repairs, any issues
• Manage and maintain equipment preventative service maintenance system
• Walk the shop and yard areas making sure areas and equipment are secure
• Routinely audits computerized inventory records to ensure accuracy and sufficient quantities, makes recommendations on excess or obsolete inventory
• Expedites delivery of parts to mechanics
• Submits daily “Shop Notes” at end of shift, to all shop personnel on all activities

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3 to 5 years related experience in parts procurement with some supervisory responsibility in the maintenance of trailers, trucks, and heavy equipment
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with managers, suppliers, manufacturers, mechanics, and field personnel
• Proficient in MS Office products and JIT, Inventory, costing, EOQ and taking physical inventories
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, shop manuals, parts, manuals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations
• Ability to work 2nd shift with rotating Saturdays in season
• Must have a valid driver’s license
