Job summary

Carolina International Trucks in Columbia, SC is seeking a Shop Foreman to lead our team of service technicians and ensure efficient shop operations.

You will mentor technicians, assign work orders, monitor progress, uphold OEM specifications, and maintain a safe, organized work environment to deliver exceptional customer service.

Strong knowledge of medium/heavy-duty truck systems, diagnostic skills, and leadership abilities are essential; ASE certifications are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Foreman/Lead Technician experience in medium/heavy-duty truck service.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to read manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.
• ASE certifications desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct service technicians to complete repairs efficiently.
• Assign work orders based on skills and shop needs.
• Monitor progress and provide technical guidance.
• Ensure work follows manufacturer specs and dealership standards.

• Assign work orders to technicians based on their skills and the needs of the shop.

• Ensure all work is performed according to manufacturer specifications and dealership standards.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality and accuracy before vehicle release.
• Assist the Service Manager in developing and implementing efficient shop processes and procedures.

• Communicate effectively with the Service Manager, service advisors, and parts department to ensure seamless workflow and customer satisfaction.

• Assist with the training and development of service technicians.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience (3+ years preferred) as a Foreman, Lead Technician, or Supervisor in a medium to heavy-duty truck service environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of medium and heavy-duty truck systems, including diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in using computer-based diagnostic tools and service information systems.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• ASE certifications (Medium/Heavy Truck) are highly desirable.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
