Flatiron Crane Operating Company, LLC is seeking a Shop Foreman to provide hands-on leadership and daily oversight of shop operations, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. You will coordinate employees, workloads, materials, and priorities across fabrication, welding, and assembly to keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience in fabrication, manufacturing, crane, structural steel, or industrial shop.
  • Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to read fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong shop safety practices and PPE knowledge.
  • Effective communication and hands-on leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily shop activities, including fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, electrical work, and other production activities.
  • Assign work and provide daily direction to shop employees based on production priorities and schedules.
  • Maintain a hands-on presence on the shop floor and assist with work as needed.
  • Monitor productivity, workmanship, and project progress to ensure quality and schedule expectations are met.
  • Review drawings, work orders, specifications, and project requirements with employees.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety procedures, PPE requirements, and established work practices.
  • Identify and address safety, quality, equipment, or production concerns promptly.
  • Coordinate with Engineering and Project Management to resolve drawing, fabrication, fit-up, or design-related issues.
  • Ensure materials, tools, equipment, and information are available to complete scheduled work.
  • Inspect completed work and verify it meets drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Coach and train employees while reinforcing accountability, teamwork, and safe work practices.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new shop employees.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient shop environment.
  • Communicate production status, delays, staffing needs, and other concerns to management.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, productivity, and shop processes.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, crane, structural steel, or industrial shop environment.
  • Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly, and general shop practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of shop safety practices and safe operation of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to effectively assign work, set priorities, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with a hands‑on approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and other departments.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and maintain production schedules in a fast‑paced shop environment.
