Job summary

Arkansas Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled automotive technician for District 9 Shop in Harrison, AR to perform routine maintenance, repair, and safety inspections of Department vehicles under moderate supervision.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in basic automotive mechanical principles and repair.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor to major mechanical repairs on vehicles and equipment in the shop and in the field.
• Perform annual preventive maintenance inspections, service, and repair of Department vehicles, specialized equipment, and heavy equipment.
• Test vehicles after repair for satisfactory performance.
• Support District crews and maintain equipment during ice and snow removal operations.
