Job summary

Berry Tractor & Equipment - Springfield seeks an experienced heavy machinery diesel mechanic to service and repair earthmoving equipment. You will read job orders, diagnose malfunctions, and perform structured repairs to keep equipment operating at peak performance.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in diesel maintenance, own hand tools, and strong electrical troubleshooting skills. A high school diploma is required and a two-year technical degree is welcome.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Own inventory of hand tools to perform repairs.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting and hydraulic systems preferred.

Berry Tractor & Equipment - Springfield is seeking an experienced heavy machinery diesel mechanic. If you have a passion for earth moving equipment and want to be part of a world class team.

Monday - Friday dayshift
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical service to construction equipment.
  • Read job order, observe, and listen to machine in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
  • Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
  • Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and adjust as needed.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure it runs smoothly
  • Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk
  • Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers to increase overall customer satisfaction.
  • Properly complete the service and/or repairs as assigned by supervisor.
  • Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
  • Produce quality work that evidence pride of workmanship.
  • Maintain your assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner.
  • Show the utmost courtesy to all customers and dealership personnel.
  • Make every effort to achieve the production objectives set by management.
  • Adhere to manufacturer’s policy and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time and repair order documentation when performing warranty repairs and torque specifications.
  • Any other duties as outlined by the Service Supervisor and or management of the company.
Qualifications
  • 1-year fleet or dealership experience preferred.
  • Been employed in the diesel industry for at least 2 years heavy equipment or diesel experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Be a team player with a strong sense of commitment to the customer and service team.
  • Be self-motivated and conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Have experience with high pressure common rail fuel systems, exhaust after-treatment, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulic systems.
  • Must have own inventory of hand tools to facilitate the assigned repairs.
  • Heavy equipment and or agricultural experience is a plus.
  • A two-year technical degree may be used in lieu of 2 years of verifiable technical employment.

Physical Requirements
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
  • Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 50-100 pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20-50 pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 10-20 pounds
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp, or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, kneel, stoop, couch, and crawl
  • Consistently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise.
