Job summary

United Construction & Forestry is seeking a Service Technician to repair and maintain electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial construction and forestry equipment. This full-time role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with Saturdays as needed, as part of a John Deere dealership network in the Northeast.

You will follow safety rules, diagnose issues, keep records of parts and service charges, and assist in directing work while developing skills in disassembly and repair of components.

Qualifications

• Must own and maintain their own tools (specialty tools provided by dealership).
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions
• Able to work a varying work schedule/shift and be flexible to respond to after-hour calls
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent oral communication and written skills
• Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Recondition and repair engines, transmissions, tractors and equipment
• Diagnose problems and determine necessary repairs
• Keep records of parts and service charges
• Handle customer problems objectively and tactfully
• Direct and train helpers or trainees as required
• Maintain a clean, orderly work area
• Develop skills in disassembly, assembly and repair of components
• Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Product Support Manager, Service Manager, Service Writer or Shop Foreman
• Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments
• Report any additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager
• Participate in training programs
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion

United Construction & Forestry is looking for a Service Technician. This individual will be responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline industrial construction and forestry equipment.

What You’ll Do

• Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Recondition and repair all engines, transmission, tractors and industrial equipment assigned by the shop supervisor
• Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed
• Keep records required to establish cost of parts and service charges to the customer
• Handle customer problems both objectively and tactfully
• Assist in directing work of helpers or on the job trainees and provide instructions as required
• Maintain a clean work area and perform miscellaneous duties associated with the job
• Develop skills in disassembly, assembly and repair of components and machines
• Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Product Support Manager, Service Manager, Service Writer or Shop Foreman
• Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments
• Report any additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer
• Participate in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion
