Job Summary:

Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II to support our growth. The Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics. They will work under supervision to develop advanced skills and diagnostics, adhering to company policies and performance metrics.

Duties:

• Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
• Determine parts needed and interact with the Parts Department.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform job duties.
• Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and communicate effectively.
• Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Behave ethically, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to standards.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs.
• Travel to customer locations as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks.
• Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and equipment.
• Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
• Complete documentation accurately and timely.
• Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
• Communicate with management regarding repairs and approvals.
• Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
• Participate in safety training.
• Maintain shop service trucks and conduct safety checks.
• Perform minor repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
• Diagnose and repair various truck systems.
• Assist other technicians with diagnostics.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one within 72 hours of hire.
• Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
• Complete all required training.

Skills & Abilities:

• Understand implications of new information for problem-solving.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods.
• Communicate effectively and organize information clearly.
• Determine necessary tools and evaluate alternatives.

Certifications:

• Required: ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
• Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T608/609 certifications.
