Job Summary:
Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Shop Diesel Technician II to support our growth. The Technician will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and follow-up repairs, and diagnostics. They will work under supervision to develop advanced skills and diagnostics, adhering to company policies and performance metrics.
Duties:
- Follow safe operating practices and procedures.
- Determine parts needed and interact with the Parts Department.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Apply knowledge from training and experience to perform job duties.
- Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and communicate effectively.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Behave ethically, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to standards.
- Perform scheduled maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs.
- Travel to customer locations as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks.
- Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and equipment.
- Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
- Complete documentation accurately and timely.
- Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Communicate with management regarding repairs and approvals.
- Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Participate in safety training.
- Maintain shop service trucks and conduct safety checks.
- Perform minor repairs on truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, and engine systems.
- Diagnose and repair various truck systems.
- Assist other technicians with diagnostics.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one within 72 hours of hire.
- Own a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- Complete all required training.
Skills & Abilities:
- Understand implications of new information for problem-solving.
- Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods.
- Communicate effectively and organize information clearly.
- Determine necessary tools and evaluate alternatives.
Certifications:
- Required: ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months.
- Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T608/609 certifications.
