Job Summary

Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is hiring a Shop Diesel Technician I to support our growth. The Technician will perform DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light repairs, and other duties. They will assist higher-level technicians, learn advanced skills, and ensure quality work in compliance with company policies and performance metrics.

Responsibilities
  1. Follow all safety operating practices and procedures.
  2. Determine parts needed and interact with the Parts Department.
  3. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  4. Apply technical knowledge acquired through training or experience.
  5. Work with Service Writers to assess customer needs and provide assistance.
  6. Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  7. Act with integrity and adhere to ethical standards.
  8. Perform scheduled PMs, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on various vehicles.
  9. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and battery checks.
  10. Use hand tools, diagnostic instruments, and other equipment.
  11. Document work and upload pictures as per standards.
  12. Complete all documentation accurately and timely.
  13. Communicate with management and support teams for approvals and notes.
  14. Comply with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
  15. Participate in safety training and maintain shop trucks.
  16. Perform minor repairs on truck equipment.
  17. Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related experience.
  • Own and supply necessary hand tools.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Pass DOT physical and background checks; current DOT medical card preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean MVR.
Skills & Abilities
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, and perform labor-intensive tasks.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to select appropriate tools and judge distances.
Certifications
  • Required within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI).
  • Preferred: ASE T4 (Brakes).
