Job summary

MGX Equipment Services in Aiken, SC is seeking a Crane Technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. The role reports to the Branch Manager at the Aiken branch.

Responsibilities include performing thorough inspections, diagnosing defects, repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with OEM specs. A sign-on bonus of $4,500 is offered after 90 days of continuous service.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years as Mechanic/Technician.
  • Experience with Grove RT & TMS, Grove GMK, Manitowoc EPIC, National Boom Trucks.
  • Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer focus.
  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must procure hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect cranes to diagnose defects and perform thorough inspections.
  • Repair, diagnose, and troubleshoot mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic/electrical components.
  • Read blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings.
  • Test equipment after repair to OEM specifications.
  • Prepare parts and drawings for each job.
  • Perform annual inspections.
  • Fill out reports, hours/time sheets, and expense reports.
  • Work independently and provide excellent customer service.
  • Welding may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

MGX Shop Crane Technicians are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks.

This position will be located at the Aiken, SC branch for MGX Equipment Services and reports to the Branch Manager.

Candidates hired for this role will receive a $4,500 sign-on bonus, payable after 90 days continuous service,

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Operate and perform thorough inspection of cranes in order to diagnose defects.
  • Diagnose, repair and troubleshoot various mobile hydraulic and lattice cranes; repair hydraulic and electrical components.
  • Examines parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges. Reads, understands and interprets operating and parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Tests mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
  • Prepares for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform thorough and accurate annual inspections.
  • Properly fills out working reports, hours reports, time sheets, hours overviews and expense reports.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Provides excellent customer service.
  • May be required to weld as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Mechanic/Technician required.
  • Experience working with different forms of mobile crane equipment, specifically Grove RT & TMS Cranes; Grove GMK European Cranes; Manitowoc EPIC and/or Traditional Cranes; National Boom Trucks preferred.
  • Must be able to read both electrical and hydraulic schematics.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication skills with a customer/client focus.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Required to purchase full set of hand tools up to 1.5 inches.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a full-time position with typical working hours between 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. Overtime and weekend work may be possible based on business conditions.
