Job summary

Essel in Anaheim, CA seeks experienced Shop Carpenters skilled in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, and exhibit construction. You will read shop drawings, measure with precision, and operate professional woodworking equipment to fabricate cabinets and displays.

Responsibilities include panel walls, booths, and exhibits; accurate cut lists; finishing, hardware installation, and quality checks in a safe, organized shop environment. Prior cabinetmaking or millwork experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as Shop Carpenter, Cabinetmaker, Millworker or Exhibit Fabricator.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, cut lists with accuracy.
• Experience with custom cabinetry and architectural millwork is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate custom cabinets and architectural millwork.
• Construct panels, booths, displays, and exhibits.

• Measure, layout, cut, fit, and assemble with precision.
• Joinery including dadoes, rabbets, biscuits, dowels, pocket screws, glue-ups.

• Inspect finished work for fit and quality; maintain a clean shop.

Job description

We are seeking experienced Shop Carpenters with a strong background in custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, exhibit construction, and finish carpentry. Candidates must be comfortable reading shop drawings, working with precision, and safely operating professional woodworking equipment.

• Fabricate custom cabinets and architectural millwork.
• Construct panel walls, booths, displays, and exhibits.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and cut lists.
• Perform precise measuring, layout, cutting, fitting, and assembly.
• Complete wood joinery, including dadoes, rabbets, biscuits, dowels, pocket screws, and glue-ups.
• Apply laminate, edge banding, and other finish materials.
• Sand, trim, and complete high-quality finish carpentry.
• Install cabinet hardware, hinges, drawer slides, and specialty hardware.
• Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and proper fit.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.

• Previous experience as a Shop Carpenter, Cabinetmaker, Millworker, or Exhibit Fabricator.
• Experience with custom cabinetry and architectural millwork.
• Ability to accurately read blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists.
• Strong precision‑measuring and layout skills.
• Knowledge of woodworking materials, hardware, adhesives, and joinery methods.
• Ability to safely operate table saws, panel saws, miter saws, routers, drill presses, planers, and jointers.
• Ability to lift materials and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Commercial cabinetry or architectural millwork experience.
• Experience installing custom cabinets, laminate casework, wood panels, countertops, and built-in units.
• Experience with cabinet hardware, hinges, drawer slides, and specialty components.
• OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
• Ability to complete cabinet installation from layout through final punch list.
• Experience working in occupied buildings, tenant improvement projects, or high-end residential environments.
