Job summary

Shipworker.com is seeking a Structural Welder in Morgan City, LA to assemble large metal components for shipbuilding. You will weld steel plates and structural frames, interpreting blueprints with precision while adhering to strict safety standards in potentially confined spaces and at heights.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, welding certifications, and at least 2 years of structural welding experience, preferably in shipyards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
• Certification in welding, structural welding qualifications.
• At least 2 years of structural welding experience, shipbuilding preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and welding diagrams.
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
• Capable of working in physically demanding environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding to join large steel plates and structural components per blueprints and ship design plans.
• Utilize welding techniques to meet construction specifications.
• Inspect welds for quality and fix defects.
• Collaborate with tradespeople and supervisors for safe, efficient work.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE; work at heights or in confined spaces.
• Maintain welding equipment and tools.
